Acupuncture
(see also, Five Element Acupuncture)
Acupuncture is a comprehensive system of healthcare that has been in existence
for over three thousand years. Because its focus is on the energetics
of an individual and how that energy moves in them physically, emotionally
and spiritually, it can be used for a multitude of purposes. Acupuncture's
emphasis is on prevention and maintaining an energetic balance.
A life force or vital energy called qi (chi), flows through the body along
pathways called meridians. When qi becomes blocked or depleted, a person
may experience symptoms of pain or disease, which indicate a disharmony in
the flow of qi.
The main purpose of acupuncture is to help restore the body's natural state
of harmony. The insertion of needles on carefully selected points assists the
body towards regaining its proper balance. Acupuncture stimulates the
body's natural healing abilities to promote physical, emotional and spiritual
well being.
