Reiki
Reiki (pronounced "ray-key") is a stress reduction technique that also promotes
healing. The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese characters, Rei meaning "Higher
Power" or "Universal" and Ki meaning "life force energy". Reiki therefore is
actually "Universal Life Force Energy".
Reiki is a hands-on relaxation technique and is based on the idea that life
force energy flows through everything and everyone. If this "life force energy" becomes
low or blocked, we experience illness or stress. Reiki works to gently
remove blockages and to balance the whole person physically, emotionally and
spiritually. The benefits include feeling a sense of well being, relaxation
and calmness.
Reiki therapy works well in conjunction with Western Medicine. Because
it works to support the body's ability to heal itself, it is an excellent compliment
to all medical or therapeutic modalities. Reiki is used in hospitals and hospice
setting worldwide.
Reiki is a simple technique to learn. It is transferred from the teacher
to the student via an "attunement" It has been taught to thousands of people
from many spiritual backgrounds and to folks of all ages. Classes are
offered in all levels of Reiki at Pathways to Health. |
